What is the difference between synchromesh fluid and gear lube?
Synchromesh transmission fluid is a non-extreme-pressure lubricant designed for manual transmissions with brass synchronizers. Gear lubes contain extreme-pressure (EP) additives for hypoid gears and higher-load applications. Using EP gear lube in a synchromesh transmission can damage brass components and cause shifting problems. Always check your owner's manual for the correct fluid type.
